Homemade Citrus Body Butter That Soothes and Softens Dry, Scaly Skin Overnight (Recipe)


Whether it is in the cold winter or under the searing summer sun, great many people have problems with dry skin. Some turn to various lotions or other cosmetic products to try and keep their skin moist but you will only end up spending quite a lot of money with little or no difference.

Essential oils are, well, essential to preventing your skin from drying as they are extremely beneficial and have many healing and soothing properties. The recipe below requires 2 essential oils that are photosensitive i.e. can react in the sun.

Remember to use this body balm as a moisturizer only at night and clean it off first thing the next morning when it’s dried.

Citrus Nighttime Body Butter Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of organic coconut oil
  • 4 to 5 drops of orange essential oil
  • 4-5 drops of lemon essential oil
  • Zest of half an organic orange
  • Zest of half an organic lemon
  • Zest of half an organic lime

How to make it:

Put the coconut oil in a pan and slightly warm it for around 15-20 seconds until it softens and then put it in a mixing bowl. Stir till you make sure there are no lumps left and add the zest from the three fruits and mix again.

After you’re done mixing that, add the essential oils and mix again till it’s all well blended. Watch out so that the oil is not too hot when you mix in the essential oils. Put the mixture in the fridge to harden and it will be hard enough when you will be able to make an indent with your finger on the coconut oil.

When the time comes, put the oil in a blender and whip it till it becomes fluffy, and once it reaches the consistency you prefer, it will be ready. Now put it in a jar in a not too warm place to prevent it from melting.

And that’s it! Once you’re done you’ll have a balm that will take excellent care of the largest organ on your body.
